Sunday 19th July was a perfect day for fledging in the Glaslyn Valley, with no less than four fledges in the space of three hours!
On the Friends of the Ospreys Pont Croesor nest, the first to fledge was Blue 0T7 who launched herself into the air at 10:51 at 55 days old. Blue 014 shadowed her in the air as she undertook a lengthy flight over the fields surrounding the Visitor Centre, giving visitors incredible views. It was 11:06 before 0T7 finally attempted a missed landing beside her mother on a tree, she then successfully perched next to her father Z2/Aeron in a nearby tree.
Next to go was Blue 0T9, who had walked along the perch a few times during the morning, finally leaving the nest at 11:41 at 53 days old. She was closely followed at 11:50 by youngest chick Blue 0T8 at 51 days old.
Meanwhile at the Glaslyn nest middle chick Blue 2T6 spent much of the morning walking up and down the perch, but eventually chose to launch from the nest at 13:46 at 54 days old. After a short flight around the nest she eventually landed back on the Glaslyn nest at 13:48.
An incredible few hours for those that were fortunate enough to visit today.
