Mrs G laid her first egg of the 2022 season on Tuesday, 19th April, at 19:37. It is the 58th egg that she is known to have laid during her lifetime.
Earlier in the day Mrs G and Aran continued to rekindle their bond to one another at the Glaslyn nest and they put up a united front in guarding the nest and their fish from the pesky crows. Aran kept lookout from the perch whilst the egg was being laid and shortly afterwards came to the nest to take a glimpse of the egg.
In the early hours of the morning Aran returned to the nest to take over incubation duties and give Mrs G a well-deserved rest and during his visit he got plans underway for the second egg. This will probably be laid on Friday.
After being at Pont Croesor with Z2/Aeron for just over a week before the return of their own partners, Mrs G reunited with Aran on Monday 11th April. They were observed mating in the early hours of the following morning but may have already mated off camera during the evening they were reunited. It is likely that due to the time that has passed that the egg is Aran’s, but mating with Z2 probably helped to speed up her return to breeding mode, as the earlier matings are more about stimulating hormones and bonding. The important thing to remember is that both Mrs G and Aran are incubating and tending their egg.
Live streaming Issues
The main set of internet bridges were damaged during a power surge on Sunday, but Andy from CCW Solutions has repurposed a set of the smaller bridges to get the internet up and running for now – thanks Andy. Due to the drop in internet speed, some buffering may be experienced on the live stream until a more permanent solution can be made and the live stream may go down at times. We hope to have it fixed as soon as possible, so please bear with us.
