The yellow, roadside direction signs are already up around Porthmadog and at BGGW we are all looking forward to the return of our ospreys and another successful osprey season. We therefore thought it was time to update you all on the things you need to know for this year.
If everything goes to plan, live-streaming from the Glaslyn nest is due to begin on 14th March. So, as soon as an osprey lands on the nest, you should be able to watch it happen live. Superfast broadband has finally been installed to our cabled link in Prenteg and so there should be some noticeable improvement to the quality of the pictures.
Visitor Centre Opening
The Pont Croesor Visitor Centre will open its doors to visitors on Monday 19th March at 10am and it will then be open every day from 10am until 5pm until the ospreys leave in September. Our team of knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to tell you the story of the Glaslyn ospreys. They will answer your questions and help you to use the telescopes so you have a close-up view of the nest.
We are always looking for new volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer contact the Visitor Centre Manager, Heather Corfield on 07834 575008 during Visitor Centre opening hours or by emailing email@example.com.
We are a small, non-profit charity and we rely entirely on our visitors’ support to provide 24 hour protection at the nest and to keep the Visitor Centre open. While there is not an entrance fee as such, there is a suggested donation of £2.50 per adult. Children under 16 go free and well-behaved dogs on leads are always welcome.
