Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife has been awarded £12,000 by Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme to construct an outdoor classroom made out of local oak with carved features and inscriptions, two carved oak benches and a wildflower meadow. The Bags of Help scheme offers local community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. In February and March 2016, the Tesco customers of Porthmadog, Caernarfon and Bangor voted that Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife should be awarded a part of the grant. Since then Dafydd Davies-Hughes of Felinuchaf, has designed and built an educational space and we welcome you to be one of the first to view the new sculpture!
On Saturday May 6th There will be an official opening ceremony with our local MP, Liz Saville Roberts at 1:30pm. Activities for children will be run by osprey education officers and local Gwerin y Coed volunteers. Writer and composer, Mair Tomos Ifans will be entertaining us with Wales’ legends and traditional stories. There will be nature themed walks, opportunities to view the current resident ospreys in their nests and to talk to volunteers about them. Smokin Jones’s brand new pizza trailer will be available for refreshments, as well as the onsite cafe.
We hope you will join us to celebrate more opportunities for the local community to become involved at Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife!
We look forward to seeing you!
